Position: Defensive midfielder
An energetic, physical and imposing central midfielder, Melo is the man being touted as the one to add a bit of grit and steel to the Arsenal side.
Those questioning whether a Brazilian is the best option for such a role should consider two things: firstly, the way Gilberto Silva performed in the same position for the Gunners before leaving for Panathinaikos in 2008, and secondly the fact that Melo has amassed 17 yellow cards and three red cards in his first season with Fiorentina.
Melo has already stated he’s flattered by talk of Arsenal’s interest, saying: “It's clear that interest from big clubs makes me happy because it shows I have worked well, but I would like to once again confirm that I am very well in Florence and have a great relationship with my teammates, the club and the fans.”
Another impressive performance for the Brazilian national team against Italy on Sunday evening may have seen Melo gain a few more admirers, with North London rivals Tottenham apparently among the chasing pack, so Arsene Wenger may need to move swiftly to complete the deal.
Tetapi kalau nak terpaksa potong jalan Pak Wenger dulu lah.
